Astral Social Club – Happy Horse (Happy Prince, CD)

Ashtray Navigations – Ink Clouds And Axe Revealer (Memoirs Of An Aesthete, CDR, 100 Copies)

Whilst sponging off the last sticky remnants of 2010 I rediscovered the two releases above.  I loved both and meant to review them in a timely fashion but got distracted by illness and, alas, they languished neglected.  Luckily, now I don’t have to.  Please allow me to direct you to the Idwal Fisher blog where Mark Wharton has described both with his usual wit, insight and lyrical panache.  Unlike The Wire, I’m not going to lift his writing without permission and pretend it was submitted as a letter to the editor.  Instead you can go read ’em in situ:

Idwal Fisher on Ashtray Navigations

…and on Astral Social Club

All I need to add is: “er, yeah – what he said.”

The ASC CD can be had via the lovely Norman Records.  Dunno about the AshNav CDR, maybe try their myspace page or their new shop at bigcartel.
