This has been all over the internet recently so apologies if you’ve already seen it. Check out this little video advertising an installation by the artist Céleste Boursier-Mougenot at the Barbican Centre. This reminded me of the ancient taoist legend:

phil dreaming that he is a finch

Once Phil Todd of the legendary Ashtray Navigations dreamt he was a finch, a finch flitting and fluttering around, happy with himself and doing as he pleased. He didn’t know he was Phil. Suddenly he woke up and there he was, solid and unmistakable Phil. But he didn’t know if he was Phil who had dreamt he was a finch, or a finch dreaming he was Phil. Between Phil and a finch there must be some distinction! This is called the Transformation of Things.

Transcendental stuff, eh readers?
